Using a basis of traditional blues and blues/funk with Niko's lazy vocal, the band complements a retro style with gentle acoustics, heavy rock choruses, funky riffs to get any foot tapping, along with African rythms, sitars and interesting and varied production ideas to create something altogether unique.

Chris Brennan
drew Skinner

Born in Takoma Park, MD Venem s began rapping at age 10. Venem s was first influenced by east coast rappers of the late 80's and early 90's. Artists such as Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, and LL Cool J. But even with these early influences Venem s credits his lyrical delivery, story telling, punchlines and metaphors to the rise of underground Hip Hop in the mid 90's. With artists like Common, Talib Kweli, and Mos Def using clever metaphors and poignant story telling Venem s decided to always remain true to the essence of Hip Hop. By focusing on being a lyricist and strong song writer. In 2003, Venem s decided to no longer write his lyrics down on paper. The change allowed him to focus more on the moment and brought about an anthemic style that illustrates his view of the world and his life.
